Introduction I love to see birds and butterflies in my garden. They’re a sign of life, and they bring a little magic to the backyard. And if you’re like me, you want to attract these winged creatures as much as possible—and there are plenty of shrubs that can help with that! Here’s my list of…

Introduction The best shrubs for your garden depend on what you want to do with your shrub. If you're looking for something that will provide privacy or prevent weeds from growing, one of these varieties might be just what you need: Black Thorns Black Thorns is a shrub that grows to be 6-8 feet tall and can be planted in USDA zones 4-9. It has dark green leaves, dark red flowers and it's drought tolerant! This beautiful flowering shrub will bring color to your garden all summer long with its bright red blooms. The small white flowers are also fragrant so this makes them even more appealing! If you are looking for something different than your typical rose bush then I would definitely recommend giving Black Thorn a try! Ceanothus Ceanothus is a genus of flowering shrubs that are native to the Americas, with one species also in Africa. Ceanothus can be used in many different ways in the garden. It's very hardy and easy-to-grow, so it's a good choice for beginners who want to try their hand at gardening but aren't sure how much time or effort they want to spend on it yet. You can plant them from seed or cuttings (which makes them great for getting started), and they grow best in full sun but will tolerate partial shade as well if need be--just make sure there's plenty of room for them! Fothergilla Fothergilla is a deciduous shrub that grows up to 3 feet tall and up to 6 feet wide. It has a slow growth rate, but it is very hardy and grows well in USDA zones 4 through 8. The flowers are small, pinkish-purple clusters that appear in early summer before the leaves emerge from the branches. They make excellent cut flowers for indoors or out! The Fothergilla can be propagated by seed or cuttings taken during its dormant period (late winter/early spring). If you're feeling ambitious, try rooting your own plants by placing them in water until they form new roots! Blueberry Blueberry is a broadleaf evergreen shrub that can grow up to 6 feet tall and has a vase-shaped form. It has large, glossy, green leaves that turn red in fall. The flowers are white and borne in clusters on the tips of new wood from spring through summer. Blueberry is easily propagated from cuttings or seed; however, it prefers soils with good drainage for best results. Rugosa Rose Rugosa Rose is a shrub that will grow in zones 3-8. It grows to be about 4 feet tall and produces fragrant white flowers in the spring. It is hardy and tolerant of many different soil types, making it an excellent choice for any garden setting. Red Twig Dogwood This hardy shrub has large clusters of white flowers that bloom in May and June. It can reach a height of 10 feet, making it perfect for use as a hedge or border. Boxwood Boxwood is one of the most popular shrubs in the world. This slow-growing plant can be pruned into different shapes, making it ideal for front yard landscaping or as an accent around your home. Boxwood is drought tolerant and will grow well in areas with poor soil quality, making it a good choice for those who want to save money on watering bills. Use shrubs to beautify your garden. Shrubs are an excellent way to add color, texture and height to your garden. They can be easily pruned to fit your space, provide privacy and wind protection (especially if you plant them close together), or be used as a screen or hedge. Shrubs are easy to care for as they need less watering than other plants in the garden. They are also easier on your back when it comes time for maintenance because they don't have deep roots like trees do. Conclusion Shrubs are a great way to add color and texture to your garden. They're also versatile, so you can use them in many different ways. Some shrubs have beautiful flowers or berries that will attract pollinators like bees, while others offer privacy from neighbors and noise reduction from traffic on nearby streets. You might also want to consider planting shrubs around your home for security purposes!
